Because at last, I had someone with whom to gang up on Simon! :o)

Julie is utterly lovely, and fantastic fun to hang out with. There were dungeons and sushi and double-decker buses and fountains and statues and pubs, and by the end of the day my cheeks hurt from laughing :o) I really hope she does visit Dublin someday so we can paint the town red together!

She has brains, and she’s not afraid to use them.

I always like to think I’d be able to help out a tourist if they visited my town, but the few cases where I’ve been called on to help out I feel that I’ve been pretty ineffective.

Evenstar on the other hand, seemed to know everything about Dublin and helped minimise the amount of aimless wandering Abs and I did while we were there. Not that we didn’t wander.

And she didn’t even seem to bothered when I forgot her real name and kept trying to call her evenstar.

Thanks for making us feel at home, and feel welcome to visit the misery of the North East any day.

He sends me candy I haven’t been able to find here since I was a kid. The way to a woman’s heart… :o)

Following a terribly short three hour phone call with evenstar42, I’ve discerned another reason why I like her so much.

She’s got her personal shit together. She knows where she’s come from and she knows how she got to where she is. She knows herself.

In the words of DNA, she’s a frood really knows where her towel is.

The last time I saw the ever-delightful evenstar42 was at Dublin Airport. We were blowing each other farewell kisses from our respective sides of the security barrier, while an emigration officer gesticulated at me. I’m guessing he was jealous, though of whom I’m not entirely sure. :P

Dublin Airport, 7:35 AM Saturday, 11th August.

I walked through the doors into the arrivals area and there was evenstar42, a vision of loveliness for a weary traveller. She smiled, I smiled. She grinned, I grinned. We hugged. That was the start of a crazily happy, laughter-filled weekend.

So after what felt like forever but was actually only a month, whyowhy made it back to Dublin; and after two days in his company I still don’t know how one even begins to describe him. He’s smart, funny, interesting, gentle, incredibly easy to both talk to and listen to. He has a lightning-quick wit, a delightful playfulness, a wickedly mischievious streak, a lively sense of the ridiculous, and his own special breed of random insanity. He has an amazing way with animals – he completely usurped the affections of my cats within a few hours – and he has the good taste to have read almost all my favourite science fiction :o) I can’t remember the last time I spent such a wonderful weekend with such a wonderful person, and I’m already looking forward to next time.
